- The basics
- A bypass humidifier mounts on your furnace ductwork. During heating, water trickles over its water panel. Some of the warm air moving through your system passes through the wet panel, picks up moisture as the water evaporates, and rejoins the duct airflow. Water that isn’t absorbed drains away.
- Suitability
- Installation depends on your system, the available space, and the water, drain and electrical connections needed. We’re considering bypass models; no model has been finalized. Same-visit installation may be possible, subject to stock and time.
- Humidity control
- A control sets the target humidity. There’s no single right setting for every home: we set it with you and adjust it as the weather changes, since colder outdoor temperatures usually call for a lower setting to limit condensation on windows.
- Maintenance
- The water panel needs periodic maintenance, and the humidity setting is adjusted with the seasons.
